This panel will feature visual artists Rodney H King, Myron Curry, TR Miles, Vincent Keele, and Stephanie Morales. We’ll be having an honest conversation about redlining, gentrification, the changing landscape of Seattle, and the important role artists play in documenting and preserving the stories of our communities.
Each artist brings a unique perspective to the conversation. My own work is deeply connected to growing up in Seattle’s Central District and using art to preserve the people, businesses, neighborhoods, and memories that helped shape the community. Myron, TR, Vincent, and Jonarra also bring their own experiences and artistic voices around culture, identity, history, and community.
The focus will be on art and redlining and gentrification and how artist narrate what society remembers.
This event is FREE and ALL AGES.
